” thank you come again”

April 28, 2008

Some people don’t understand the importance of 711’s these days. A lot of people take them for granted and don’t realize how dependable one can be. for example, when your coming home drunk from a club and want a hot dog and then you realize you need motor oil. 711 has both and will continuously provide America with easy access to essential products. One may even argue that 711 is the most successful store to be evolved into American culture with in the past 20 years.

procrastinators

April 25, 2008

Twenty percent of people identify themselves as chronic procrastinators. For them procrastination is a lifestyle, albeit a maladaptive one. And it cuts across all domains of their life. They don’t pay bills on time. They miss opportunities for buying tickets to concerts. They don’t cash gift certificates or checks. They file income tax returns late. They leave their Christmas shopping until Christmas eve.

Booze in the Family

April 24, 2008

My dad is an alcoholic and it is a very serious issue. Alcohol can change people and the people around them. My dad will forever be an alcoholic.

Once an alcoholic, forever an alcoholic, right?

Not according to a 2005 government study, which found that 40 percent of people with alcohol dependence were in full recovery a year after tackling their addiction. Roughly 20 percent of problem drinkers abstained from alcohol completely, but about the same number reported that they drank occasionally without a relapse. The study appeared in the journal Addiction.

Still, half of the alcoholics in the survey were struggling over the long term—25 percent were still dependent and another quarter were only partially in remission.

Not surprisingly, life circumstances were linked to recovery. Women and older adults were most likely to beat the addiction through abstinence. People who were cohabiting or married, or who had a family history of alcoholism, were more likely to report a non-abstinent recovery.

Conventions

April 17, 2008

This past weekend couldn’t have turned out to be anymore wild or crazy. Making a last minute decision to go to James Madison University was the beginning of a wild ass weekend. i went to this party filled with a shit load of prep’s and and rich kids. they where popin collars and rockin the sperry’s. my boy stuck one dude in the face for drooping beer on his girlfriends shoes. i wasn’t a night that i planed on getting a fight in.  but sometimes you got to do what you got to do. more of the drunk pipsqueaks came at us instantly and swung two or three punches at me that where way to high in there for using my insticnts, i cracked him up his jaw that put him straight on his ass. we bounced after my friend kneed some asshole in the face. i pasted out in some girls room on the floor completley wast faced. woke up quick at about noon than relized i had to be in a confrence soon. i called the Royal Cab company to pick me up and drive me to the hotel where my suit was hanging alone in the room with everyone gone and there, where i had to be two hours befor i woke up, the pavillion on the otherside of the campus. i kicked in the hotel door and quickly grabbed my cloths with out hesitation. the confrence was the worst thing that could ever take place in my lifetime. hung over and terribly tired made my morning very uncomfortable. theres more to the story that i will continue next week.

why i have my ear peirced

April 11, 2008

Action icon Harrison Ford is tough, but he still needed a few drinks before piercing his ear. Ford, who became a household name playing Han Solo and Indiana Jones, tells Maxim that, “A semi-drunken lunch with Ed Bradley and Jimmy Buffett, who were both wearing earrings,” is what inspired him to get pierced. Afterward, I walked down Madison Avenue till I found the first jewelry store that pierced ears.

camping

April 1, 2008

Saturday morning me and about 15 of my friends went camping in the sticks near Charlottesville. The night consisted of killing six and a half kegs and grilling steak with burgers. most of the day consisted of playing horseshoes and tossing the baseball around. unfortunately my team mate in horseshoes had zero points which put all the pressure on me. Only two people brought tents to the camp site which i believe was a terrible idea considering the fact that rabid animals and deadly spiders where lurking around the fire. My own tent was packed with five people shivering to stay warm. it must have been below 15 degrees on top of that mountain. camping was an awesome time and i cant wait to go in the fall again.

best years for hockey

March 27, 2008

The 1992–93 NHL season was the 76th regular season of the National Hockey League. Each player wore a patch on their jersey throughout the 1992–93 regular season and playoffs to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of the Stanley Cup. Twenty-four teams played 84 games each. It proved, at the time, to be the highest-scoring regular season in NHL history, as a total of 7,311 goals were scored. Twenty of the twenty-four teams scored three goals or more per game, and only two teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Chicago Blackhawks, allowed fewer than three goals per game. Only 63 shutouts were recorded during the regular season. The Montreal Canadiens won their league-leading 24th Cup by defeating the Los Angeles Kings four games to one. As of the end of the 2006–07 season, this is the last time that a Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup.

Easter wasn’t as fun as  i thought it would be, however i did get to eat some amazing food that my mom and grandma cooked. I spent most of my time landscaping for my dad in my back yard. between the endless mulching area’s and leaves i was not enjoying my weekend at all. Going home for the weekends never really tends to be much of anything except non stop eating. not saying that that’s a bad thing but that’s really all i ever end up doing at home.

Saturday night i went out around one am to a party near by my house . I showed up with a handle of Southern Comfort and two shot glasses. Most of the people there were my old friends on their spring-break. About two hours went by where everything pretty well. I was in the middle of taking my 6th shot when the cops shined the spot lights through the windows. My friend who owned the place wasn’t freaked out at all and took the blame for everything which was really rare from most people i know in NOVA. So the five 0 took all of our names down and breathalyzed me. He let me go even though i failed the Breathalyzer because i was able to get picked up. the cops weren’t as bad has they used to be on Saturday night.

Sports

March 20, 2008

I cant believe VCU lost last night to UAB by three points. Eric Maynor missed the last shot that would have put us in overtime. Maynor didn’t have a good night compared to his stats from the season. The baseball team was able to get a win against Longwood University two nights ago. My high school team mate plays on the Longwood team so he called me to watch the game at the Diamond where the Richmond Braves play. It was a cold and windy night but very exciting. My friend for Longwood hit two doubles with one RBI.

VCU won in the 12th inning against Longwood which is very long game for baseball. At first VCU was down one to five until they tied it in the bottom of the 7th inning. VCU’s first pitcher Mike Gram wasn’t successful at all while on the mound. He gave up 6 hits and four runs in the 3rd inning. At least some one is winning game’s for VCU. The Basketball team screwed up but there are plenty of other VCU sports to support like the baseball team or the club and intramural sports.

Mid Terms

March 20, 2008

Mid terms have been pretty sweet for me this semester. The only class that i need to work on is biology and that’s because i don’t understand shit. Science has always been hard for me since highschool. There’s class’s that i excel at like English and history and even math but science is where i lack the most.

My academic adviser told me i have all A’s and one C for my mid term grad’s which earned me an extra letter of money from my parents. Tomorrow is the last day to withdrawal but i feel pretty comfortable with how my classes are going. Hopefully ill be able to keep my grades up for the rest of the semester so that Ill be able to transfer to a better school in the near future.
